An Engagement Session at Lake Kittamaqundi
A Lake Kittamaqundi engagement session offers couples a beautiful combination of natural scenery and the distinctive character of Columbia, Maryland. The lake, walking paths, architecture, and surrounding landscape create plenty of opportunities for portraits that feel relaxed rather than overly posed.
For this engagement session, we wanted the photographs to reflect the couple themselves. We used the environment around Lake Kittamaqundi while allowing plenty of room for natural interaction—quiet expressions, laughter, closeness, and those small moments that happen when a couple becomes comfortable in front of the camera.
Engagement photography also gives us something a wedding day rarely provides: time. Without the schedule and activity of a wedding, we can explore different settings, work with changing light, and create a mixture of polished portraits and spontaneous photographs.
Having photographed in the Columbia area for years, locations like Lake Kittamaqundi offer something especially valuable: familiar surroundings that can still produce photographs with a strong sense of place.
